Lagny-sur-Marne
On our way back to Bruges
The wine harvest in Champagne is over. Our last guests have gone back home. Autumn has arrived with the first rainy days… Time to return home with Barge Johanna to our home port of Bruges.
Yesterday, we passed the very winding “Boucles de la Marne” between La-Ferté-sous-Jouarre, Meaux and Lagny-sur-Marne. It was nice sailing on the wide river Marne between the ripe cornfields and the vineyards on the hill sides. Then again the river became rather narrow with trees on both sides of the narrowed valley. Colors are changing from green to yellow, some dark red also appears on the trees.
At a slow pace, we arrived at Lagny late in the afternoon. Wednesday is market day, and the covered market of Lagny is a real treat to food lovers. So this morning, off we went into town, direction market hall. We returned with 3 bags full of delicious fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, dried ognions directly from the grower,… enough to enjoy the coming week during our cruise till we reach another town with good shopping facilities. And just as on our stop here on our way up to Champagne, we could not resist to enjoy a small expresso on the way back to the ship. To sit down with a good cup of coffee, enjoy the atmosphere, make plans and talk about the previous weeks,… It’s just a great feeling. We enjoyed every moment of it.
Maybe next year, you or some other guests will travel with us on our relocation cruises and share the good feelings. Or maybe you could just opt for a special tailor made cruise in this area? Feel free to ask. You too could experience the relaxing life on board a ship. We wouldn’t want to miss it for the world anymore!
Welcome on board.
